But it had the unfortunate habit of not allowing me to access my user data. This could be resolved by resyncing, but this only worked twice, after that, there was no getting back onto the desktop interface. Others have told me that they have experienced the same problem with the beta. I've been running desktop 4.0 for a few days now and this problem hasn't happened yet. – by sea dog not happy (10:58pm est wed mar 27 2002) i downloaded and installed version 4.0, the installer didn't include conduits or the hotsync manager.

It came with (in alphabetic order) add-on, conduit manager, holiday files, hotsync manager, palm desktop, palm os updates, palm setup assistant, transport monitor, tutorial, and a readme. Bhottle – don't know what happened but it should all be there.
– by sea dog kernal error (9:46pm est fri mar 29 2002) when using the ir transfer between a palm v and powerbook g4 i experienced a kernal error that locked up my powerbook hard. I was able to recreate it and it seems to happen when i sync twice in a row via ir. The only reason i was sync'ing twice in a row anyway was to confirm certain file deletions sans duplication of records.

When i restart my mac, i get stuck in the transport monitor, with no application menu showing. Only when i click on the finder can i continue! – by phil palm (handspring) will not sync no matter what (8:59am est mon mar 08 2004) i'm running a tibook g4 with 10.3.2. My handspring visor just wont' sync. I press the hotsync button, and nothing happens. I've re-installed palm desktop five times (including using my wife's account and logging in as root and trying that.) no go. I've deleted all the palm pref files i could find.
I've unplugged the usb cradle and re-booted my mac 5 times. When i log in, transport monitor says “sorry, could not complete your request error -4960” now i'm bummed. – by erich viedge zire 71 transport monitor problems (4:04pm est wed may 05 2004) about 4 months ago i started having all sorts of various problems hotsyncing and they appear to maybe be related somehow?
First my zire 71 kept draining the batter every night. Each morning i'd have to reboot and sync all my data from my mac powerbook g4. Then all of a sudden it would sync anymore and a message on my pb g4 would come up about the transport monitor. I could still pull my data up on my pb though. Now, i can't hotsync at all, it says a “connection between handheld computer and desktop could not be established” and when i go to my pb g4 to open palm desktop i get an error message #-50. What's going on?

Like erich, i have wasted too much time with re-installs on my mac g4. My connection to usb is good as i have desktop access to my 256 mb memory card thanks to missing sync. It works ok on my mac g4 laptop. Hope someone has solved this problem by now sinc erich's message dates to march.

Yesterday when i tried to use the isync with my new handy t630 i've got this error message. The interesting thing is that if i use hotsync with a different user (let's say the admin user) it works fine. Solution to -4690 problem (3:25pm est mon sep 20 2004) solution to the -4690 problem i re-visited the palm.com (or was it palmone.com — does not matter, depending upon what you seek, you will be re-directed to the correct site). There i consider downloading an earlier version of palm desktop for mac, specificially for os 8. Well, to my surprise, after install palm desktop for mac os 8, i encountered no problems and can regularly sync and update my kyocera smartphone just as if there were never a problem in the first place. The only bad thing is, since belkin has not offered a usb extension driver for os x, i must switch (restart) my computer everytime i want to hotsync my smartphone. Until i can secure a usb cradle for my kyocera smartphone or upgrade to a treo 600, i shall not have the pleasure of using isync from os 10.3.

I used the permission fixer download from palm and then reinstalled palm desktop 4.o but that just created more installer files that i am unable to delete. Help – by emily belkin usb bluetooth and hotsync manager (1:16pm est fri oct 15 2004) i have run into an issue where whenever i have my belkin usb bluetooth device plugged in, it will conflict with my hotsync manager. I get the transport monitor error 4960, and i can't seem to use bluetooth to connect from my palm to my laptop for email/web at all. I can transfer files back and forth, but i can not use 'bluetooth internet sharing'. Has anyone else noticed this issue?

In tiger, (mac os x) if you perform a search for com.palm, you will find all the files fabio is refering to. Definitely delete these files and don't bother reinstalling the palm software as the palm website suggests. A waste of time.
The problem is one that is circular (you delete the files and reinstall the software, and the stupid palm software replaces the files you just removed. Then you get the message “transport error couldn't do the following and you end up chasing your tail) once you remove the files, then try and open the setup window of the palm software and choose usb connection incl.
Bluetooth, if applicable. What a waste of time. Thanks palm for making it easy.!:( another thought palm charges 25.00 per support issue. Do you think if they provided the answer on the website that they would loose money on people phoning for support?

I am using a powerbook running 10.3.8 and a palm tungsten t3 running palm os software v.5.2.1 – by mahummel@lodiusd.k12 -4960 transport monitor error (3:49pm est wed may 25 2005) fabio b. Appears to have found the culprit- kill all running palm software fry all the palm associated prefs. In he dir /library/preferences (including those in byhost) (use gzip if you're scared) and then (1st) fire up the transport monitor, then (2nd) fire up the hotsync mgr.

Sometimes there is a reference to conduit manager. The synch log shows error meesages on the tungsten and hot sync manager. Any ideas how to fix this?
– by john noecker hotsync quits, when it tries to sync calendar (6:37pm est thu jul 14 2005) i have been using my tungsten t3 for about at least a year, and i have had few problems that did not resolve themselves. Though i have never been able to do a hotsync from the cradle, i have been able to do a bluetooth hotsync without any problems.
Lately, when i do a hotsync, everything goes well until it gets to the calendar level. Then, i get one of those “unexpectedly quit” error messages. Only my calendar files are not sync. Any help would be much appreciated. It's a shame that palmone doesn't give better support. I remember, when i purchased my first palm device, back in 1997, the support was definitely some of the best in the industry.

Without success. – by g tang bluetooth sync/os 10.4.3 (9:04am est mon nov 28 2005) palm tx sync's properly with usb cable, but will not via bluetooth. Transport monitor doesn't seem to see it or it tranport monitor crashes with error 16.
I've deleted all the palm prefs in user/library including byhost and am no longer getting error 16. But, it still tries to connect and times out. The bluetooth connection is active, paired and i sometimes get a port in use error, but at other times it simply reports that the palm cannot connect. Bluetooth prefs shows obex object push as the only service available. Not sure why it will not detect other services—my cell phone shows lots of other stuff including dun, obex object exhange, etc. I have the bluetooth-pda-sync port selected in hotsync manager. I'm pretty sure it's a transport manager incompatibility that forces a fatal error.

I have turned off isync and nfs hosting. – by dstampfer palm desktop “file is busy” (3:47pm est wed dec 07 2005) recently changed to a treo 650. Using mac os 10.4.3, i was able to install the palm software that came with the treo and the recent update from palm. Syncing worked initially, but i have been unable to use the palm desktop software.
I always get “file is busy” message. I have seen several suggestions all over the web about reinstalls, permissions, etc., but i have not been able to get a consistent set of trouble-shooting directions. I have exhausted my own moderate linux knowledge trying to figure out what to try. I would be eternally grateful for a clear suggestion.

I loaded the software that came with my new palm treo 650 and once i launched the desktop software, i get an error message that reads palm desktop “file is busy”.
